How can I put together an individual gift set for someone?
Choose products in the online shop and put them in the shopping cart. Then select the option "Put your order in a gift box" in the shopping cart (at step 1 of 5). For a surcharge of EUR 4, your individual selection will be packed in a gift box and provided with a personal message that you can also enter directly in the shopping cart:

If this is not the case, please go back to step 1 shopping cart and add your code again.
Note: It is generally not possible to redeem your voucher code at a later date.
We process every order as quickly as possible and send it to our shipping department in a timely manner. Therefore, unfortunately, it is not possible to add any more items once you have submitted your order.

Another reason why we want to avoid returns as much as possible:
A large part of our range consists of food products that we don’t want waste or sell on to other customers. This is the only way we can guarantee the best quality – this also guarantees best product quality for you!
I would like to order as a German sole proprietorship with a UID?
For sole proprietorships in Germany, the VAT number is generally issued to the private name and address. However, if you are sole trader and would like to register the company and the business premises so that SONNENTOR (and other EU suppliers) can issue the invoice accordingly, there is the option of registering a euro address with the Federal Central Tax Office. This option is also listed on the notification from the BZS about the assignment of the UID number.
The entry of the euro address must be applied for in writing to:
Federal Ministry of Finance
Saarlouis office
66738 Saarlouis
Fax: + 49 228-406-3801
Phone: +49 228 406-1222
What do I need to know about taxation or customs clearance when I order online?
Our head office is in Austria (European Union). For orders from private customers within the EU, VAT is included in the total price - there are no additional fees (such as customs fees), as goods can be moved within the EU.
If you have goods delivered to a country outside the EU, you are responsible for taxation, customs clearance and any other fees in the destination country. For this reason, we deliver tax-free to the relevant countries.
Since we have no influence on these costs and these vary between countries, we cannot provide any information. We recommend that you inquire at the responsible customs office.
Are spice mixtures still edible after the best-before date?
The SONNENTOR spice mixes have a best before date of 36 months. In this time frame, we guarantee that the product will retain its specific properties such as taste, smell and consistency if properly stored.
Exceeding the best before date does not mean that a food is no longer fit for consumption!
Look at the spice mixes to see if you notice anything unusual.
Smell the spices.
Take a small amount of the spice and see if it still tastes good.
If you do not notice any abnormalities in the sensory tests (smell, appearance, taste), the spice mixture is safe to consume.
I can't find a country in the shipping costs list?
If no fixed shipping costs are set for the country to which your parcel should be sent, they will be determined individually after the order is placed.
Please proceed as follows:
First, put all the desired items into the shopping cart and submit your order with the payment method prepayment.
We can then determine the gross weight *) of the shipment and thus calculate the shipping costs.
You will be notified of these by email.
If the shipping costs are too high for you, you can of course change or cancel your order afterwards!
*) Gross weight means: Products including shipping carton, filling material, packaging material, etc.
Why do fenugreek seeds stay hard even after germination?
Occasionally hard seeds are unfortunately a general issue with fenugreek. The fenugreek is a legume. The seeds ripen in pods and are threshed and gently dried. Upon receipt of the goods, each of our sprouting seeds is cleaned and sorted out, and their ability to germinate is checked. The germinability of seeds depends on the growth conditions of the plants. In principle it is possible that not all seeds of a sprout seed germinate, that is in the hands of mother nature. Experience has shown that the germination capacities are between 80 % and 98 %.
Most of the non-germinating seeds will swell and soften. In some cases, however, some grains can also remain hard. Since the non-swelling seeds do not differ noticeably from the germinating seeds when dry in terms of appearance, size and weight, 100 % cleaning is unfortunately not possible. We are working hard to improve cleaning.
Are SONNENTOR teas, spices or essential oils suitable for pregnant women?
As a food company, we are not authorized to provide information on such topics. We also do not have the necessary medical competence to be able to provide adequate information. If you are unsure, please contact your doctor, pharmacist or aromatherapist.
Essential oils must be labelled either as cosmetics, as aroma oils or as fragrance oils for rooms (claims according to chemical guidelines). A combination of the various ordinances is not possible.
Our essential oils are primarily used as room fragrances and are labelled as such.
However, due to the high quality of the oils, they are also suitable for other purposes.
What should I watch out for when using SONNENTOR essential oils externally?
For external use, it is important to know that essential oils are highly concentrated plant substances. This means that the oils are particularly strong. These substances also contain allergens such as citronellol, eugenol, limonene or linalool.
Therefore, when using the oils, you have to be guided by the sensitivity of your skin and generally be careful with them.
When using it on the skin, it is advisable to mix essential oils with a carrier oil (e.g. jojoba oil).
Can I use SONNENTOR essential oils for cooking and baking?
We have had our own line of essential oils for use in the kitchen since 2020: our essential spice oils.
You will find precise application instructions and tips on each bottle. Each bottle also come with a pipette, so that an exact dosage is possible. Every batch of oils in this line is sensory checked in our quality department.
In general, when flavoring food and drinks, you should always pay close attention to the correct application.
Essential oils are only suitable for cooking if the plants where the oil has been derived from is suitable for use in the kitchen. Due to the high concentration of the substances, essential oils must never be used pure and must be diluted.
Essential oils do not contain fat and are not water-soluble, which is why they must always be emulsified with a carrier before being used in watery substances. Suitable carriers are fats and oils such as sunflower or olive oil, but also cream, egg yolks, butter, sour cream (full fat), mustard, vinegar, honey, sugar, salt, mayonnaise and alcohol.
Further suitable carriers are syrups (maple syrup, agave syrup, date syrup), malt and molasses, soy sauce, or lemon juice.
Application tips:
Drip the required essential oil into food that contains an emulsifier.
Oils are volatile substances, therefore only add them to hot dishes shortly before serving.
Use a slightly higher dosage when baking so that the taste is retained until the end of the baking process.
Can SONNENTOR essential oils be dangerous when used internally?
Essential oils are very highly concentrated, volatile liquids. That is why it is important to know how to handle them. If you adhere to the regulations, then nothing stands in the way of their use and you can enjoy a special smell and taste experience. It should also be noted that the oils are very intense in taste and effect due to their high concentration.
Can SONNENTOR essential oils be used for children?
Caution is required for use with children. Small quantities of essential oils come from thousands of plants, so the oils are highly concentrated. They also contain allergens such as citronellol, eugenol, limonene or linalool. The proportion of menthol etc. is also higher than in the raw material.
In any case, caution is required with small children!
It is advisable that you carefully try out the tolerance if you have never used essential oils in order to rule out allergic reactions.
If you are unsure, please contact your doctor or trained aromatherapist.
Are the essential oils from SONNENTOR water-soluble and suitable for aroma diffusers?
Pure essential oils are never soluble in water. However, this should not be a problem with common aroma diffusers. It is best to fill in water first, then add a few drops of oil. So, the water can evaporate together with the oil.
Contrary to many assumptions, Greek mountain tea is not a mixture, but the name of an herb that is native to the entire Mediterranean region. The Latin name is sideritis scardica.
What is the difference between CBD hemp and hemp leaves?
Hemp leaves and CBD hemp from SONNENTOR differ in their taste and in the different cannabis sativa varieties.
Basically, the same type of plant (Cannabis sativa), but a different variety is used. In the case of CBD hemp, it is the one that is listed in the Austrian variety list or the EU variety catalog. It is the "Fedora" variety.
CBD hemp tastes more intense, tart and resinous than hemp leaves.
The cannabidiol (CBD) found in the cannabis plant is many times higher in our CBD hemp variety than in our hemp leaf product.
How much iodine does the SONNENTOR sea salt with iodine-containing algae contain?
Our salt with iodine-containing algae contains 20 mg per kg of iodine. In a pack of 150 g, this corresponds to 3 mg of iodine per pack. The type of algae used is a brown alga, the variety is called Oarweed (Laminaria digitata).

The best before date on each label provides information about the shelf life. We grant a minimum shelf life of three years for dried herbs and spices (with a residual moisture of max. 10%). If stored correctly (dry, protected from moisture, light and heat), herbs and spices can be kept for a very long time.
The general goal of organics is to guarantee a high degree of pollution-free food that is grown without the use of any pesticides and easily soluble commercial fertilizer (artificial fertilizer). Organic agriculture is a holistic approach that considers the following principles: minimizing the use of external energy, using natural self-regulation mechanisms, ecological balance, animal welfare, and the sustainable use of resources.
SONNENTOR is constantly monitored and was one of the first businesses in Austria to comply with the EU Organic Agriculture Regulation.
Requirements are precisely defined in the EU Organic Regulation (EC) No 2108/848. The specifications ensure that organic products can be correctly labeled and sold as organic (= organic certified) = eco). All regulations are checked at least once a year by state-approved organic inspection bodies. The inspection bodies issue, in compliance with all directives, a one-year organic certificate per holding.
SONNENTOR is inspected by the control body "Austria Bio Guarantee" which has its headquarters in Enzersfeld.
An EU-wide uniform organic logo has been marking products from 1 July 2010. The EU organic logo, which is a collective brand, is binding on all packaged organic foods. Since 2022, non-food items - such as essential organic oils - may also be labeled with the logo.
All foods bearing the EU organic logo have been produced in accordance with the EU Organic Farming Regulation, thereby promoting consumer confidence in the origin and quality of their food and drinks.
When labeling approved organic products, the code of the organic control body must be included. The code number of our control office of Austria Bio Guarantee (ABG) is "AT-BIO-301" and consists of the following:
AT: State (Austria) where the controls take place
BIO: refers to the production - organic product
301: Reference number of the inspection body issued by the authority (the 3 stands for the federal state and the 01 corresponds with the serial number)
Our herbs and spices come from nature. The formation of flavours is highly dependent on climatic conditions.
Depending on the weather in the year of the harvest, the smell and taste of essential oils can be different and slight variations are normal. This is in the hands of Mother Nature.
Acidity provides the specific taste of the coffee, without acid it would taste stale and bitter. Caffeic acid stimulates the stomach acid, which can irritate the stomach if consumed in large quantities.
Some acids, especially the coffee-typical chlorogenic acids (total content 4-5%), but also citric and malic acid, can be found even in unroasted beans. These acids are, however, not really noticeable in terms of taste.
SONNENTOR Coffee is made from Arabica beans that are very gently and slowly roasted. In total, about half of the green coffee's acids, especially the chlorogenic acids, are broken down and lost through roasting. Due to the degradation of carbohydrates, however, some flavor-intensive acids are added during the roasting process, especially acetic acid, but also additional citric acid and malic acid. The acidity in coffee varies between pH 4.5 to 5.0.
The Arabica variety has a much longer maturation time than other varieties and therefore has time to develop its components more slowly. Not only do these components contain less caffeine, but they also contain milder acids. Therefore, SONNENTOR coffees taste pleasanter and are gentler on the stomach.
Good things take time. This ageless wisdom is also the foundation of our quality guidelines.
Nature’s flavours don’t need any artificial help. Neither dyes and artificial flavour additives nor preservatives cloud the SONNENTOR flavours. Healthy soils, the sensitive handling of nature and the experience gained over the years make the SONNENTOR products natural and unmodified foods.
SONNENTOR Herbs & spices are carefully harvested by our organic farmers on certain days of the year. They are gently dried below 40 degrees Celsius and carefully hand-packed. Mostly intact leaves are a feature of this time-consuming work. Feel and taste this extra effort in the teas and food. Whole leaves guarantee freshness and full aroma due to the preservation of naturally embedded essential oils. Break the herbs with your fingers just before use.
