Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all? Probably the most beautiful of all spices, the star anise, resembles fennel and anise in fragrance and aroma. The star-shaped spice convinces with a strong licorice note and fine, bittersweet nuances. Star anise is therefore not only beautiful on the outside, but also on the inside. Its flavour goes well with compotes, Chinese cuisine, soups, steamed chicken, pork and duck. In Vietnam it is a typical ingredient of the famous phos (noodle stews). Get the stars from the sky - or at least into the saucepan!
